Intermediary
Search |
|
On January 1, 1995, Michigan adoption legislation officially created the role of
the Confidential Intermediary. Confidential Intermediaries are individuals with specific
training in post-adoption services and are appointed to conduct searches for former family
members or adult adoptees on behalf of a petitioner. When the party being sought is
located, and all individuals are in agreement, the Confidential Intermediary may
facilitate a reunion.
PLEASE NOTE In
addition to court appointed cases, confidential intermediary search services are available
through our office to former clients of Child & Family Services of Michigan, Inc.,
(formerly Michigan Children's Aid Society). Prior
to conducting a search, the Central Adoption Registry must be accessed with no statements
of denial on file. Our program is headed by an experienced social worker that specializes
in post-adoption services.
